Set-Up

  1. Unbox your wallet.
  2. Press the button on the bottom corner to eject Eskter cards from the cardholder. 
  3. Slide your own cards into the cardholder. We recommend starting with 4 and working your way up to 6 to ensure smooth sliding. *Pro Tip: Put your most used cards at the back so they will be the most easily accessible!
  4. Optional: Slide some folded bills under the strap.

FAQ’s

Can I carry the Aluminum Cardholder in my back pocket?

We designed our wallets to be ultra thin and perfect for front pocket carry. You can still carry your wallet in your back pocket but we recommend removing it before sitting. Repeated sitting may bend the aluminum cardholder over time and cause the card ejection mechanism to malfunction. 

What does RFID stand for, and what does it do?

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification, which comes embedded in chips in most credit or debit cards issued in the last decade. These chips are a convenient way to store and transmit data wirelessly. When you hold your card next to a reader and pay without entering a code, that’s RFID!

What is RFID skimming? How do I protect my cards from it?

While RFID chips are immensely useful, there is also the danger that someone could use a counterfeit reader to pick up your RFID information against your will. These counterfeit RFID readers could pull or delete data simply by walking near you on the street. That’s RFID skimming, but you don’t need to worry about it when you use an Ekster wallet. The RFID protection in our wallets keeps you 100% protected against data theft.

How does the cardholder work to keep my cards inside it?

The cardholder is designed with a patent friction mechanism. It holds your cards in place when they are inside the cardholder. The friction keeps your cards from flying out of the wallet when you eject them, and keeps them staggered so you can find the right card easily.

If you find your cards sliding out of your cardholder frequently, it may be due to irregular-sized cards or metal cards.

To fix this, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have 6 non-embossed cards inside your cardholder. Make sure none of them is metal.
  2. Change the order of your cards and test the mechanism again.
  3. If your cards are unusually thin, try using some embossed cards.
  4. If none of this works, please contact nest@ekster.com.

I love the card access mechanism! How do I make sure it lasts for a long time?

We’re happy to hear you love using your Ekster! Our wallets are pretty resilient (we’ve run them over with cars and they’ve kept going). Please note, however:

Do not put more cards in the cardholder than recommended (maximum of 4 embossed cards or 6 non-embossed cards). Doing so can permanently damage the card access mechanism.

It’s rare, but not impossible for your cards to get stuck in the cardholder. This can happen if there’s dirt or residue blocking the mechanism.

To fix this, follow these steps: 

  1. Shake the cardholder upside-down to eject the cards.
  2. Blow high-pressure air into the cardholder and shake it upside-down to make sure all residue is removed.
  3. If this doesn't work, please contact nest@ekster.com.

If your cards aren't ejecting smoothly, it may be due to irregular card sizes.

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Insert your cards halfway into the cardholder.
  2. Gently move the cards left and right. This puts pressure on the friction system, creating more room for the cards to slide up and down.
  3. If this doesn’t work, please contact nest@ekster.com.
